...and the livin' is easy

It's summertime up in here.

And right now, I'm all about some outdoor spaces. I'm sprucing up my screened porch with gauze panels hung from lengths of bamboo and I can't wait to have a drink or two on some great outdoor furniture.

As soon as I find some.

Aren't these outdoor rooms and porches wonderful?

trophy cups

via tear it out

I'm such a nut for old engraved trophys or loving cups, as they are sometimes called. Love the one above used as a vase. I have a collection of old copper trophy cups and I'm always trying to figure out the best use for them. This week I'm putting them in the kitchen to hold utensils and old silver. Next week...who knows...?

All these wonderful gray finishes are by Segreto Finishes, expert artists with walls, ceilings, floors and cabinets. For many show-stopping examples of the work of Houston, Texas based Leslie Sinclair and her crew at Segreto, check out this beautiful book:

copper kitchen

is that a totally copper kitchen...?

chelsea gray

I was visiting a friend last night and fell in love with her kitchen wall color - Chelsea Gray by Benjamin Moore. Brooke Shields used Chelsea Gray in her living room featured in Architectural Digest. Geez. I love this color. If your room is large enough and you have good light, I'd say go for it.

And I've always loved Brooke's living room art. Such a sense of humor. I think I'd like her...

Have a wonderful weekend! donna

design boards

one of Emily Henderson's boards

I am envious of designers and bloggers who can put together wonderful boards when planning out a room design. An overall concept and feel can be honed down and captured long before the first purchase is made.

I'm planning a little den re-do soon and it struck me that I needed to mock up a board for direction. Why haven't I ever done this before? I fly by the seat of my pants and usually make a mistake or two (or three) before I'm done.

I'm sorting out some ideas in my head and looking forward to putting them down on a board. Do you put your own boards together when you're working on something for yourself? This will be a first for me, and I'm looking forward to it.

gray bookcase

I'm always drawn to a more masculine feel in interiors.  Love the art in this cozy area by Grant Gibson. Check out the small parsons tables. The bookcase, painted in Farrow and Ball's "Down Pipe" really makes a statement. Looks like the back of the shelves are mirrored. And notice how the books are stacked horizontally.

obsessed: indigo

Navys and indigos are edging their way into my (gray) heart.

Are you a chandelier nut like I am?

I knew he was going to Spain, but...

now I find out that my son, on his summer high school trip, is also going to Morocco.
Really?
Will a rug like this fit in your suitcase, kid? A pants leg?
