For Sale - Frank Lloyd Wright's Millard House

That first photo takes my breath away.

Frank Lloyd Wright's 'Millard House'  originally built in 1923 for Alice Millard, a book dealer, is now for sale. The Pasadena, California home has four bedrooms and four baths and is listed for $4,495,000.

Information from their site:

"Recognized by Wright as the earliest 'Usonian' house, La Miniatura is also the first residence to utilize Wright's highly inventive textile block building system. The Millard House is internationally recognized as one of the world's most important works of architecture. Now, following a multi-year restoration, the complex offers one of the most romantic, and creative living spaces anywhere. Sited on nearly an acre of gardens within the Prospect Historic District of Pasadena, the residence and studio include: 4 bedrooms, and 4 baths, 2 kitchens, living room, formal dining room, and semi-attached garages. The Millard House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places."

auction obsessions

This antique French cabinet would be happily at home at my place,
just under the new flatscreen.
If only I could make it to the auction this weekend.

But I can't.

Isn't it great? With it's mellow patina and it's 38 x 94 x 16 self.
Where else in the world am I going to find that perfection?

And I really want these two abstracts.
Badly.

They are going as a lot of two.

I'm just out of luck this go-round.

If you're anywhere near western North Carolina, you really should check out

We were there for an auction a few months ago.
Awesome stuff.

He ain't so bad either.

sepia tone photographs

I really like the quirky art and black and white photography in Jordan Ferney's small NYC apartment.
Seeing it makes me want a huge, quirky sepia-toned photo as a statement piece.

sitting pretty for spring

cole rattan chair from world market

Every time I visit World Market, I drool a little over this rattan chair.
It's so comfy, too.

I'd bring it home,
except I just found these vintage chairs at an antique shop for a song:

on my side porch

I'm ready for spring, if it would only get here...

a masculine touch

this one kinda takes my breath away

Some of my favorite rooms designed by Nate Berkus.
They all seem to have a casual, warm, masculine feel.
I think I have always been drawn to that type of interior.

An antique dealer's home

The dining room banquette is covered in cowhide.
The walls are Benjamin Moore’s Westcott Navy.

The kitchen ceilings are covered in pecky cypress.
(I love the simple cabinetry AND the greige color. I bet it is similar to this color.)

The Art of Kiki Slaughter

Well, look what she's gone and done now.
She's mixing furniture with art.
The bench above is great - upholstered in a paint-spattered canvas. Maybe it's her actual drop cloth.
But those chairs.
Man, those vintage, french-style gray chairs with those blue/green
paint spattered seats.

I love her new direction.
