Doesn't this image look like it came straight from a magazine? It's actually from my friend Diane's lakehouse. She's not a professional decorator, but, man, she can put a house together. We recently went down to her lakehouse on a warm morning last week, but of course, I was much more interested in the interior than in the lake....
The picture above is from the master bedroom. Diane painted an antique chest black and her husband painted a piece of found driftwood white.
an antique card catalogue
holds mercury glass containers
a vintage bottle collection
an antique pine hutch in the den
a beautiful painted chest in a guest bedroom
fabulous hand scraped floors
run throughout the house
an antique industrial cart as a coffee table
this one is not from Restoration Hardware!
it's the real thing - from an old textile mill
hall chest
the shell of an old kayak mounted on a wall
oh, yes,...and the lake.....minor detail
My thanks to Diane for sharing her house and talents with us...

Your friend Diane and her husband have a beautiful lake house...so jealous. I love everything. I saw a cart like that at the antique store the other day, I would so love to have one of my own. Thanks for sharing. Lovely photography. take Care, Carrie

What an incredible house! Diane is very skilled at styling. It is so simple yet so striking!! That painted driftwood is lovely. How I would love to lounge on that big squishy sofa and gaze at the lake.

Such a lovely home!

Oh my those floors are my dream floors! Your friend should share some of her favorite places to shop for these treasures!
It's beautiful! The colors are dreamy, and the lake.. oh my! xo

Holy cow! The whole house could be in a magazine. The lake is an afterthought - which is saying something, considering how pretty it is. I am so glad your friend shared her home with us.
I especially love the color of her painted furnishings... each is so pretty!
Your friend has such amazing things. And that hardwood floor is freaking gorgeous!

That house is beautiful! I am curious what color of grey was used to paint the dressers?
That "minor detail" of a view!
*thunk*
Just me swooning....
It's good to know I'm not the only one who would forego visiting the lake to see the fabulous interior. Great post, great ideas! Thanks !!
Absolutely Gorgeous! But I'm loving that dark chest with the white driftwood!
That antique card cataloque......can I have it? Oh, and the lake view too. Beautiful.
Vintage card catalogs and antique bottles and antlers, oh my! Lovely home!
Awesome...and I don't say that a lot! Beautiful details, great placement, gorgeous view...how could they ever leave it? But if they do, can I have it instead!!
Your friend Diane certainly has a gift for presentation. The card catalogue topped with mercury glass is so cool! I love this kind of contrast. All of this plus a lakeside location... wow! Thanks for sharing. Take care,
Anne

Her house is drop dead gorgeous! And, clearly, birds of a feather...and all that! :)
Fantastic. I am in love with the black capped banister in the stair railing. Also, how fantastic that kayak!?
I don't know what I like more - that view or the beautiful interior! Thank Diane for sharing with us!
Wow. Just... wow.
Beautiful ! Where did she get that oval mirror- I just found your blog and love it.
Love it, love it all. Simple but beautiful!!! If this is her lake house what does her town house look like?
What is not to love! I can't get over that white painted drift wood.
Why did not I think of that!
ox, Mon
Let me know if she ever decides she doesn't want that antique card catalogue - like that would ever happen! ;)
Hi, Rebecca! Of the three chests photographed, the only one Diane painted herself was the black one. Both of the gray ones are new and were purchased as you see them. I wish I could tell you the color names. They are beautiful, aren't they?
Julian, you asked about the oval mirror - if you can believe this - Diane and I found it at a Home Goods store. We had seen them at higher end home furnishings stores for much more and happend to luck up one day, and of course, we snapped it up. Diane didn't know exactly where she was gonna use it - but as you can see, it looks terrific at the lake.
Thank you all for your lovely comments. Diane is as beautiful as her lakehouse. You all are so gracious!
her house gives me a fatty.
