my stylish friend's solarium

                                                                   my friend's sun room

We probably all have one. A friend who is uber stylish in dress and decor. My lovely friend, H., is just such a person. She recently opened her home for a local fundraising event and every inch of it was stunning. Here is a snap of her home's detached solarium, right before the guests arrived. I thought it was just perfection. Light and neutral in all the right places. I loved the oriental screens. The turquoise cushions on the vintage wrought iron chairs and the worn oriental rug layered over the jute rug did me in. All very casual, but elegant touches. And all done with a flair.

"It's just random," my friend insists.

No. It's just style.

hope your weekend looks something like this...

heaven...

see you guys on monday! donna

game changer

While in Charleston a few years ago, I saw Angie Hranowsky's work for the first time. I'm still smitten with pretty much everything she does. I have never looked at vintage/mid-century art or lamps the same after seeing her designs. I'd love to have a little of this look in my home...

crazy good...

crazy about this image today. wallpaper, furniture mix, and casual but beautiful mix of art, tapestry and mirror on the wall.  and of course, gray doors.

hope your weekend is crazy good, too.....donna

I adore this mix...

this one made me swoon...

....the lines of the antique french pieces, the vintage prints and art, and the combination of the gray walls and the pink of the rug...

sometimes I'll save an image under the tag, "love this." This is one of them....

I hope your holiday weekend has you constantly saying, "love this..."

yes!

I think this look is so elegant but fun and fresh....

art wall chic

I'm sharing an obsession over art walls with Ally of From the Right Bank. She has two great posts about these here and here. I saw this image on thirteen and south recently and loved the unique gallery wall style. This whole room is so chic. The way the photos/art pieces are hung - level at the top of the first row, and level at the bottom of the second - has a stunning effect, don't you think...?

I steal so that you can feast.....

I am just hoping that Katie Denham will understand. I fell so hard for this bedroom from the San Francisco Decorator Showhouse 2010 featured on her site, Katiedid, that I totally committed image theft. But you guys are the lucky ones. Just call me Jean Valjean. I'm snitching delicious morsels for your eyes.

Can you get over this bedroom? Those floors, the art, THAT CONSOLE??? Some wonderful goodness from Will Wick of Wick Design.

Thanks, Katie. That was delicious.

this one just does it for me....

The light gray walls, that console, gallery-style art, cool roll-up shades, striped rug......

Did anyone else get just a little intoxicated after seeing this Paris apartment over on Design*Sponge yesterday?

edge-ify me...

Gagnere's Paris Apartment, Elle Decor, April 2010

When my gal at My Favorite and My Best posted this image, I nearly flipped over the black and white striped art piece. Perfection. Simple. Perfection.

I waited patiently until my Elle Decor arrived about two weeks later, then slept with this page every night. Well, not really, but you get what I mean. That funky piece is just what I need to balance some of my antiques and vintage stuff. To edge-ify my look.

OK, I'm gonna make one and let's see how it goes....

If you have any tips, let me know.

amazing grays

The images above are from the bedroom designed by Amy D. Morris Interiors for Atlanta's Christmas, 2009 Showhouse. The bookcases featured in yesterday's post, the warm gray ones I absolutely flipped over, are from this room.

Below are more examples of the work of Amy D. Morris. All beautiful. In a piece in Atlanta Homes Magazine, Amy notes: "My signature colors are gray and white. In my opinion, they are classic, simple and timeless. Then I like to add a 'punch' with pops of color."
