gray and tobacco

I don't see it often, but I love the combination of gray and a tobacco color. Kinda like a pumpkin pie color. I don't know what to call that color really. The duvet/ spread in the first photo; the metal chairs in the second. I think it's a sophisticated combination. Kinda masculine, but I am always drawn to more masculine looks. What shall we call that color. . .?

I like the combo too. That Nate Burkus room pulls it off so well.

The new runway nail color is called greige, its like a gray-beige mix. I like it for walls, not sure about nails yet :)

I think tobacco works.
What about allspice?
It really is terrific and works especially well with a perfect gray!

I love it! It's really like getting gold and silver to work together in a complementary way.

I love your blog. I am also searching for the perfect gray -- racheljoinsthefray.blogspot.com -- but I have a feeling you will find it for me first! Thank you!

i would think this combo would be depressing, but quite the opposite. really enjoy the wall color in the first room!

I think tobacco is perfect... I snagged a bunch of awesome bedding, in similar tones from a movie set sale. Can't wait to set it up in my boy's room. Have a great day.

Like what you are calling these hues, tobacco and pumpkin pie both really sum it up! And totally smitten with that bedroom!

Cognac darling. Cognac! :)
Yes it is a great combo - in decor as well as clothes.

Thanks for the company today.. during my posting spree..

Am off to pick up the kids form school and daycare now. Then to the beach for an afternoon swim and fruit sallad!
Oh I never stop to be amazed over how spoiled we are here in Sydney..

Love to you.

thanks so much for your comment on my blog about the new black bedroom wall..I'm loving it! You know, I don't think I've ever 'done' gray...or grey as we spell it here...may have to now seriously change my mind! Thanks for the inspiration.

Love the second image best, very dramatic!! Tobacco is a great name for that shade, even a nutmeg.

I agree, tobacco seems like the perfect description and I also like Theresa's nutmeg. Whatever it is, I'm crazy for it and it's very similar to what I keep leaning towards. All very good!

I love this color combination. I have a similar combo in my living room(just not as dark as tobacco). It is "cool" and "warm" at the same time.

I too am drawn to a more masculine look. If I look back through my files I find, white, grey, brown (in all its shades, including tobacco) black and the occasional moody blue.
I find pretty, girly, fussy interiors claustrophobic. You are onto a good thing.

I've been reading every now and again and I had to finally comment - this is my absolutely favorite color combination. I use it quite a bit and it's the color palette at our house. It was even the color palette on my first rendering project in design school. At my office we usually call it "cognac" or "caramel" depending on how dark we go...

Love your blog! Marija

Yes, I would say tobacco or nutmeg. My bedroom is actually a taupe-y gray (Benjamin Moore's Ashley Gray), and I have chocolate brown accents. Never thought about the nutmeg color. Hmm. Might have to try it.

Thanks for the inspiration!

Anyone have any idea where that four poster bed came from? I'm looking for one just like it.
