rock that 80's style, babe...

are you guys old enough to remember the 80's???

this is what we looked like ...

what we watched.....

what we wore...

how we convo'ed...

where we blogged....

Earlier this week, the hubs got a call from a lady - who he did not know - in our former hometown. With her business partner on speaker, she began to explain that they were renovating their offices. As she continued, the hubs couldn't figure out what all that had to do with him. After a few minutes, she explained that as the old panelled ceiling in their office was being torn out, down fell a wallet. After looking through the wallet for ID and making a few phone calls, she located the hubs. Turns out -the wallet was mine!

In the late 80's the business I worked with moved to a new building. My office was near the back entrance. I clearly remember the day someone snuck in the unlocked back door, went into my desk and took that wallet out of my purse. I just assumed it ended up in a dumpster.

Of course, all the cash was gone, the caller told hubs, but EVERYTHING else remained and it was all in pristine condition.

I think the callers were excited about the find and tracking down the owner. They were so nice to mail the wallet to me and, after TWENTY YEARS I got my wallet back yesterday!

It was such a blast going through everything. Ancient credit cards from banks and department stores that no longer existed, a list of Christmas presents I was going to buy, 25 cent stamps!, hub's old college ID, business cards from antique and thrift shops that I'd visited. And my driver's license! Big. Hair.

Rock that mall hair, babe!

Guess we'll never solve the mystery of how the wallet got where it did,  but it was so much fun going back to the 80's!

what's in YOUR wallet... ?

That is amazing!!! What a story! Must have been fun to look through the wallet after all these years (I remember that wallet btw!) It's funny to see the cards of businesses that don't even exist anymore! What a hoot! ;)

That is such a cool story. It really is a blast from the past. I was just talking the other day about how I hated the 80s style in clothes and hair. I never fit in. I kind of feel like it is happening again. The styles are so out there right now. Thank goodness for the classics. I guess I am just not a trendy girl. Fun post and thanks for sharing,Kathysue

That is so amazing to find all those things!! I was a teen in the 80's and fashion-obsessed, so I did every trend imaginable. Glad there is not much photo evidence....

Thanks for your sweet comment on my birthday post. That was a lovely first comment to receive!

I love your blog and hope all is well with you! xo Terri

When I saw the first photos I wondered if I was on the right blog...hideous!!! Nails on chalkboard! Oh...but what a great story...I forgive you for the 80's stuff! Just so cool that someone took the time to make sure it got back to you. The complete respect that showed a fellow human being. Wow! Thank you! Trish
