art wall chic

I'm sharing an obsession over art walls with Ally of From the Right Bank. She has two great posts about these here and here. I saw this image on thirteen and south recently and loved the unique gallery wall style. This whole room is so chic. The way the photos/art pieces are hung - level at the top of the first row, and level at the bottom of the second - has a stunning effect, don't you think...?

i can't even concentrate on the wall gallery-although it is beautiful. between the chairs, lamps and chandelier, i'm delightfully distracted. i want to see the rest of the room, is that a yellow sofa i spy?

I do love the idea of leveling the top and then the bottom but this arrangement throws me off a bit with the big gap in the middle. Perhaps I just need to stare at it a bit longer.

There are really endless ways to hang an art wall...I love them in nearly any form!! Art walls add so much personality to a space.

Yes, it is interesting. And the mirror doubles the image so it looks like a really large wall.

I think it's contagious. ;) This one is the most unique one yet. I don't think I've ever seen a wall hung this way before. Pretty cool.

I like it - I think it was done to match the top and bottom of the mirror on the right - makes the whole room look bigger.

Interesting, that mirror. Little Green Notebook has posted a million mirrored walls recently. What do you think? Mirrored walls okay?

xo,
Rachel

I too have never seen artwork hung in this manner. I keep thinking, let me put a round mirror or something in the middles.

I love those dining chairs.

I have just discovered your blog via Bright Bazaar and I am so into gray at the moment so it's perfect! Am contemplating a charcoal wall in the open plan living area of our soon-to-be-built house so I'm sure I'll get inspired. Thanks Jane!

I wouldn't have noticed the lining up of the top and bottoms of the art had it not been for you...very clever! And I really like how the large mirror extends the gallery...again, very clever!
