this gets me excited...!

I love Anna Spiro's style - white interior walls and white upholstery. I have especially admired how she introduces color; her mix of pillows adds just the right amount of color.
But I have had a terrible time at trying to do the same thing. My living room upholstery is also white canvas and I would love a similar look. I've searched forever for just the right mix of pattern and color in pillows, but have really had no luck. I don't have ready access to large fabric stores without driving a few hours and I am trying to keep from spending too much on pillows that I will likely change out all too often.
But recently, I found a selection of batik print fabrics that I am so excited about! I tried to get a good mix and I want to also have a mix of different sizes of pillows made. I have so many antique and vintage pieces, I hope this will bring in a fresh feel:

batik fabrics for my living room pillows

Can't wait to get these going!

Spiro has such a great distinctive look. You'd never mistake her work for another's.

Can't wait to see how your pillows turn out!

I, too, have to drive an hour to find the good fabric sources... makes it hard to get a sample (and I actually have to "buy" the sample) and then drive it home to 'see' it in the room, then return to buy it. A closer fabric shop (about 45 minutes away) has a wonderful selection of batiks- I've seen some wonderful patterns similar to the ones you show. I've often wanted some for dinner party tablecloths!
Can't wait to see your pillows! Batiks are such 'happy' fabrics!

Donna, these are fabulous!! Can't wait to see it all come together BUT, it's like I don't know you at all!! Are you really a color girl deep inside? Maybe neutral backgrounds with pops of color....love it! Whatever you do will have tons of style!

i also have a hard time adding the right amount pattern and mixing that unexpected color into the room. i feel like such a dummy when it comes to that! i can do it with clothes, why not decor? looks like you have a great thing starting though!

I love those too!!! Can't wait to see the finished product! I am so spoiled living in Atlanta with Lewis and Forsyth. I have noticed that many fabric stores are going towards not keeping stock and just having fabrics you can order from....especially Calico Corners. I was at Forsyth Fabrics yesterday and they are starting to do the same thing. In this economy, they can't afford to carry the inventory!

Beautiful fabrics! We had the same challenge in our living room-- finding the perfect mix & match pillows for pops of color. My mother-in-law ended up making us some that are perfect!

These are beautiful fabrics (can you hear a 'but' coming on?!) - but

- can you find more, on a larger scale? It's the mix of colour, scale and style that gives Anna Spiro her edge.

Love the image - yet the opposite of me. I would be more likely to have bright walls and white upholstery. So gorgeous, though.
Your fabrics look great. By the way, Calico Corners ships fabrics!

those fabrics are fantastic! i'm especially drawn to the teal and the pink ones.
you may want to inject a hot pink fabric in there w/ either a black piping or teal piping.
anna usually balances out her patterns w/ a shot of solid pink or some black.
some online stores that i frequent bc they're super affordable and they ship r: fabric.com, lsfabrics.com, designerfabrics.com; and premierprintsfabric.com

good luck! can't wait to see how u pull it together. it's going to be great!
