Is it ever OK to kiss your contractor?

via pinterest

We're having closets and a laundry area re-configured so my place is a wreck right now. I try to clean up the work area every night, thinking the less dust and debris around, the less that will be tracked through the house. I asked the sheet rock installer when he would start sanding (so I could be prepared).

"Oh, I don't sand, " he said.

So, I'm thinking, 'Ugh. Gotta get another person to finish his job.' Until he added...

"I sponge. With a damp sponge. Makes much less mess."

I'm thinking a big ole kiss on the mouth might be in order.

I'm smiling Donna, go ahead and kiss him but on the cheek followed by a big hug. I kissed and hugged our contracctor after he did our kitchen and then carriage barn but then again our contractor is also a personal friend.

Absolutely, if he can make your closet (our mine) look like the one above!

Doing it might be rash, but it's perfectly okay to dream about it!

I think Debra has it right ~

Great post.. I am smiling:)) I am one of your newest followers and I loving your blog. Since you are the expert in gray, do you have any suggestions for a light gray with a purple tint?? We are redoing my soon to be 9 year olds room and this is the color she wants.. Any ideas???

I suppose it depends on what he had for lunch : )

Gorgeous closet! One of my aspirations in life is to someday own a walk-in closet such as this.

Your closet is going to be fabulous.
I don't think I will kiss my contractor, but I do like the idea of not sanding. Please let us know how it works.

We're DIYers, so I kiss my contractor all the time. Lucky you to find such a conscientious contractor. Love that closet image! I actually just used it the other day in a post on organizing closets.

yep, he definitely deserves a kiss!! they also sometimes sand now with a vacuum attachement thingy (and yes that is the technical term, I'm sure;) which helps, but sponging sounds much better. I remember 20 years ago when we did work on our Dallas house we walked around the house (as we were living in it while renovating) in 1/4- inch of sheet dust on the ground! There's this funny picture of me sitting on the covered sofa watching tv one night surrounded by that 1/4-inch of dust like nothing was out of the norm!! ahhh the joys of renovation;)

Hi,
I've never left you a comment before, but this was just too funny! I don't know about kissing, but I've hugged my contractor more than once. Not for minimizing messes- but they wield so much power to make us happy.

Looking forward to seeing your completed closet. I'm going to be working on closets and master bath very soon.

best,
Julie

Can't wait to see the finished product!

This one made me laugh. I was very envious thinking that was your closet:)

Kissing is allowed....for sure. BECAUSE that dust gets everywhere and it is impossible to remove it all! It just keeps settling for months.....lucky for you.....a new closet :)

Your contractor seems like a dream! I've gotten to know mine quite well. He's on another job right now, so his partner is here....and I kind of miss him.

I'll have to remember the "sponge'' when we get to that point.

Just a big old mess at this point!

My MB. Shower door was installed today and I know what you mean, after the installation, I hugged the shower door guy! Funny, it is the little things that make me smile. All he wanted was the check but hey a hug is free, right.
Loved this post!
