my son's height measurements and hand prints
from age one to 17
Next month, as my only child turns 18, we might be making his final measurement marks on our hall wall.
Between college applications and yearbook dedications, it's fair to say that I am an emotional wreck.
You may have seen our 'growth wall' here before. It's just extra special to me right now.
If you have a young one, start a growth chart!

Precious Memories you have right there!
I too had those kind of moments when my kids left home!
hugs to you

Oh, Donna, I'm about in tears. I remember this growth chart. So poignant. I need to do this. I love that handprints accompany measurements.
*sniffle* Gracie is nine. I am dreading this moment. :(
Hugs to you, my friend.

right there with you... my son just turned 18 and the college apps are killing us!
Lovely idea with a son 21 and 18 I started something simliar but then we moved a few times and the idea got lost in the moves. Yours brought a tear to my eye....my how they grow up quick.

Tears are totally understandable Donna! Adore your wall. xx
I know how you feel and mine are only 9 and 12. I do the growth chart on the inside of mt stairwell door. I wish we could keep them small for just a little longer. Time passes way too quickly!
My son is 19 and he grew another inch in the last year at college. I love the hand prints.
Donna that's beautiful! How wonderful to have something that takes you back over the years. Love the hand prints too.
Hugs to you my friend it's all a part of life!

Donna Your growth wall IS wonderful. I know the emotions you are going through. Entering the next stage of both your son's and your life!
Happy Thanksgiving!

I love to see that someone else did this!!! I did it on the inside of my entry closet door and had our daughter not purchased our house I would have brought that door to our new one.
Now...on the door to the basement I have started all over again...
so sweet!! those precious hands
Awwww, this is so lovely, Donna. Big hug! x
You already know how much I love this.
Here's hoping that in the not-too-distant future, his babies' prints will be climbing along side.
But let's get him through college first. ;)
oh my! i totally want to do this!
That growth chart is wonderful, love the inclusion of the handprints.
I pick up my 18 yr old at 11:30 tonight, home from Boston on the train!! I'll be posting about him tomorrow.
Oh, bless your heart! I was like this with our youngest child last year! Now he is sitting on the sofa with me as he is home from college for the week! it's wonderful to have him back! Enjoy each of these next few months to the fullest!
Oh how I love that...! They grow up way too fast... I have my first grandchild coming in January and will start one for "her"...!
We moved when my boys were 7 and 10. It was so sad to have to leave those marks behind and know that they would be painted over. It's a very special thing. I love how you traced the hans too!

Handprint...brilliant !
I share your feelings.. they grow up so fast don't they? My kids are 21 and 23.. can't believe it. We did something similar ~ no hands though. This is a wonderful idea to mark time passing.
You have lots to look forward to :) The transition has some emotional moments but it's wonderful to have adult children .. and watch them make their own decisions based on the values and work ethic you've taught them.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
