I'm putting in a new kitchen and my island will have a wood countertop. I think they are nostalgic and remind us of a simpler time, and they are achievable.
Donna , I agree!! We are designing our new kitchen in our little home and I want wooden countertops because of the cozy look!!

What a timely post! I am currently debating on putting them in my home.
caroline, my countertops are cherry wood and I have had them about 13 or so years. Two or three times a year I oil them with mineral oil and afterwards they look wonderful. I went with wood because we are in an older home and I think the warm look of wood suits us/the home best. The wood does get marred and has some spots, but I really wanted that used/lived in look. I am happy with them!
