things in my attic

I am a ruthless cleaner-outer. The hubs and I recently pulled all my stuff out of the attic so I could go through it and get rid of what I could. A couple of years ago, I stashed away some stuff while I was painting my livingroom and dining room a lighter color (gray!) and going through a more spare look. These are some things I pulled out of the boxes. . . childrens' shoe forms. . .

. . .and my collection of copper loving cup trophies. . .

I've collected these over the years, starting with the largest one. It's a tennis trophy from 1916. Another is a tennis trophy from 1905 and one is a cricket trophy.

Now I can't believe I had these tucked away.

I guess this is a week for re-discovering my own treasures.

I love it!!!
I'm looking forward to getting into my attic! Every once in a while, I'll remember a forgotten treasure that I squirreled away somewhere and when I re-discover it... well, you know, it's just the best!!
It's nice to know you aren't as spare and edited as I thought, even though I love it. Your extra trophies, so to speak are hiding in your attic :)
I adore trophies but have never seen copper ones. They are stunning!
Are you going to find a place for them now?

Wow, what treasure you had tucked away. I have never seen copper trophies. They look so great all grouped together.

That leather bench has really got me! It has such a lovely feel.

P.s A little shout-out for you on my blog.

I have a few sets of those shoe forms as well, but alas, no copper trophies. Boo hoo. I've never even seen them in copper. What a find!

I love the trophies, you lucky girl. All I have in my attic are my kids old toys. I wish I had some treasures to hunt for up there. What a great collection.

Hi there!

I have a theory! I could be wrong.......but I think I might be right!

Many older trophies were "sheffield" silver plated on Copper.

Many people did not know how to polish them safely.
I have seen many "trophies" which had their "silver plate" completely polished.....and even steel wooled their silver plate.

My guess is that these started out their lives as silver plated copper!

That just makes them all the more charming to me!

Wonderful collection! Love what you are doing with them!

Bravo!!
