For years I'd come across a particular tear sheet from a decor magazine and say to myself, "Why did I save this one?"
Finally, I realized I was drawn to the shoes in the picture, casually tossed beneath a bench. And they weren't just any shoes; it was a pair of tennis shoes just like my husband used to wear. So to me, the image said 'home.' Now, whenever I see a picture of a room that happens to have shoes in it, I am always drawn to it. Such a nice, homey touch...

Thanks for reminding me it's ok to actually have a home look like someone lives there!
It´s all in the details - the shoes are perfect. :-)
Homey indeed! I love the colors in the last photo. I think that a lot when i go through my pics like "what was this for?"
Funny thing...I always love the shots with the shoes casually laid about, too!

i love that bench next to those gorgeous curtains!
It keeps an interior personal and real. I am afraid I may have too many pairs of shoes strewn around here...
It's the small details, isn't it. A lovely, sweet round-up. I like the way you see things, Donna. ;0)
oh my, then you will most definitely LOVE my home, ha!
yes it does look like home, I love the lived in look to it.
Loving the low bench of that third picture, Donna! Thanks for your lovely comment on today's post.
Isn't it interesting to think about why we love what we do? I love that you came across all those tear sheets. I am having one of those days...your comments about the shoes made me teary...in a good way.
I love that last photo also. What is it about slightly messy that is so comforting! Will let you know the grays I choose (notice plural!) So hard to settle for just one! Doing lime-wash... so hope to get all my favorite tones. Think I secretly want to sleep outside with my bed against a stone wall! Trish
Hmmm... just like home... my eighteen year old son doesn't seem to realize that he has a closet for his... I don't really complain because I know some day soon I will miss all those signs of his being here... ~Terri
then you'd love my place - it has a real 'homey' vibe when it comes to shoes dotted around! my bedroom currently looks like a second hand shoe store during sales season!!
Goes back to the "imperfectly perfect". Isn't that what home is all about? Loved the post.
I have soo many shoe pictures in my inspiration folder...i am glad to see i am not the only one!

Beautiful pictures as always here. Know just what you mean about shoes, but I mustn't let my children read this post since I'm forever telling them to clear their shoes away!

Love the juxtaposition of the last photo with the shoes and that elegant looking bench, so homey. Everything looks so comfortable and welcoming. Thank you for a lovely post and making us feel at home!

When I tear sheets

I usually draw an

inspiration so that
I'll remember! It
was so fun to read
your post over at

more about you! Now,
you'll have to let
us in on how you
obtained such an eye

Happy Wednesday!

Oh that's so interesting...I didn't even catch that all of them had shoes at first! I was oohing and ahhing over the pics themselves - but you're right i bet that's part of the charm!! nice eye
Beautiful images all of them - and the shoes adds an unformal and homey touch! Not too perfect, that's how I like it;-)
