it just says, 'home'...

Per Gunnarsson Photography

For years I'd come across a particular tear sheet from a decor magazine and say to myself, "Why did I save this one?"

Finally, I realized I was drawn to the shoes in the picture, casually tossed beneath a bench. And they weren't just any shoes; it was a pair of tennis shoes just like my husband used to wear. So to me, the image said 'home.' Now, whenever I see a picture of a room that happens to have shoes in it, I am always drawn to it. Such a nice, homey touch...

Thanks for reminding me it's ok to actually have a home look like someone lives there!

It keeps an interior personal and real. I am afraid I may have too many pairs of shoes strewn around here...

Isn't it interesting to think about why we love what we do? I love that you came across all those tear sheets. I am having one of those days...your comments about the shoes made me teary...in a good way.

I love that last photo also. What is it about slightly messy that is so comforting! Will let you know the grays I choose (notice plural!) So hard to settle for just one! Doing lime-wash... so hope to get all my favorite tones. Think I secretly want to sleep outside with my bed against a stone wall! Trish

Hmmm... just like home... my eighteen year old son doesn't seem to realize that he has a closet for his... I don't really complain because I know some day soon I will miss all those signs of his being here... ~Terri

Goes back to the "imperfectly perfect". Isn't that what home is all about? Loved the post.

Beautiful pictures as always here. Know just what you mean about shoes, but I mustn't let my children read this post since I'm forever telling them to clear their shoes away!
