This post makes me so sad. While we were on holidays the trades tossed out the extra cuts of our cedar timbers we used on the exterior of the home. I was planing on waxing them for end tables. Maybe the next house. Have a wonderful weekend!
Of course you wood (and so wood I)! Especially since there's a very cool mirror and a pretty chandelier involved. I really love this idea...best use of recycled beams I've seen in a long time! Have a great weekend Donna... xo J~
Nothing like an awesomely chunky hunk to totally make my weekend!!!
I like this picture but I think it's one of those things that needs styling well or it could look a bit studenty and 'just bought in a bit of wood cos we can't afford a table' chic!!
These are fabulous (re-purposed/vintage?) pieces of lumber...I'll bet that they weigh a ton!.....If it fit the space, I would do this in a minute...saving this pic for inspiration....thanks...k
Bahahahahaha that reminds me of a time long ago...when my mother, my sister, who is 4 years older, and I were driving down Greenwich Avenue, main st in my town, and my mother hoping to bond with her teenage daughters points at a handsome guy our age and states.... "wow, what a chunk!" we laughed forever about that one...well I did anyway, my sister all of 17 or so said in her snotty way "It's hunk Mom, not chunk" this post reminded me of that funny moment. Thank you!
I do love me some wood though! Sadly, we lost a bakers dozen of large trees in storms this year, I think I'll have one of the bigger trunks cut in to blocks like this instead of firewood. That way they can be remembered forever, like my mom and that story.

Great post! :) I love wood in a space- it warms it up and gives the space great balance against soft furnishings! Happy weekend!
Go for it Donna, I actually like the chunky wood boxes with the sleek modern sofa! Happy Friday and it's snowing here again, I'll send some down!
I love these! I have a chunky wood hunk as a little side table between my chaises but it's not early as nice and rustic as these :)
I "wood" too. Love this image! Happy Friday!

Good WSJ article. Chalet Chic reminds me of hippie chic in Sunday's best. I'm glad to see the chalet chic style moving forward.
I think I "wood"... I can actually see light linen "bench" cushions with dark piping on some of those "chunky hunks"!!
Grey linen perhaps!!
Have a Great Weekend!
