"The color I find most beautiful and chic is gray. But it's very hard to procure that perfect, soft, luminescent, silvery gray shade you see in gunmetal, silver, zinc, or pewter. To try to get that color in a surface that's nonreflective and doesn't have a three-dimensional quality is the challenge. I often try a dozen samples just to find one gray. But if it's simplicity you crave, there's a divine gray that almost always works: Benjamin Moore's Horizon. If a friend calls me and says, 'Help! What do I do?' I reply, 'Paint the walls Horizon and the trim white.' Think of a gray suit with a white shirt. It's a nice clean story, and you can go in a hundred different directions with the tie." —STEVEN GAMBREL

I love the suit metaphor. Perfect.
Ooh Donna I will check this color out, because that is a quest of mine, to find that slight shimmer of a silvery grey!

donna do you think this combo would work on an exterior?
do you have a list of your favorite exterior gray's?
thanks!
Stunning!
I am living grey at the moment in the hunt for a colour to cover my old Swedish secretaire in.
It's currently a classic Gustavian grey but it needs a face lift and I am now contemplating a dark husky gray of some sort..
Big hugs to you darling.

Horizon is a fabulous color! Have a good Monday Donna!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Horizon, I have used it so much, and have recommended it many many times. Its what I call a "win-win" color. It is completely NON offensive. The ONLY - and I say this just to play Devil's advocate - ONLY negative, is that if you have an excessively bright room, it may be too light, but as I don't ...I consider it "A Perfect Gray"
Have to check this out! Thanks Donna!
I love Horizon, but in a very bright room it can read a little blue.
Best...Victoria
Painted my bathroom cabinets Horizon. Perfect! N.G.
Horizon seems to be the gray du jour. I've read about a lot of people using it lately...I'm going to have to investigate.
This is advice worth saving!!! Love the analogy, too!
Happy Week, Donna!
xoxo Elizabeth
Looks like you have a very speical kindred spirit there Donna! I'll have to check out 'Horizon', as we're still searching for the perfect gray for one area of our house.
xoxo J~
PS- Thank you so much for your touching comment, it brought much comfort and a nice bit of light to what's happening at the moment...I'm so grateful. ♥
That's definitely a great tip! I love when a specific paint is given as a go to. It's so helpful.
i agree with ladies above... great color but in a room filled with light... not a great choice.
sailcloth on the other hand... and carrington beige... total win win ... sailcloth can read a perfect neutral with a hint of gray...
Can you tell me if you are referring to BM Horizon 1458 or BM Horizon OC-53? There appears to be two different paint colors with the same name. Thanks so much!
Hi Donna - had two bathrooms painted in Horizon this weekend. Both are rich white cabinetry/trim/wainscoat and carrera marble. Stunning and thanks to you for the tip! ;-)
I have Horizon in my master bath and absolutley adore it, so I'm going to have to agree with Steven!!!;)
