gray bookcase

I'm always drawn to a more masculine feel in interiors.  Love the art in this cozy area by Grant Gibson. Check out the small parsons tables. The bookcase, painted in Farrow and Ball's "Down Pipe" really makes a statement. Looks like the back of the shelves are mirrored. And notice how the books are stacked horizontally.

love all the color with this deep charcoal color bookcase - keeps it light still.

I love this color!! I also love the mirrored back, brilliant! The happy yellow garden stool is pretty great in this space, too!

Donna,
My painters are still here...but when they finish I am excited to show you, of all people, what we've done. It's not enormous, but the powder bath is a dark gray and then, we used the same color in a high gloss for the cabinets above a little bar/kitchenette on the landing upstairs. Contrasting with a beautiful lighter marble, I think it's going to look sharp!

And, it reminds me a little of this bookcase!!

Hope you're having a wonderful weekend!
xoxo Elizabeth

First, Love your blog. It's gorgeous and I'm impressed by your creativity. It must be difficult finding so many inspirational grey images. I think I'd run out of steam.
As for this room, it's alright but lacks soul. Like someone had a checklist of trendy items which "read classic" and just put them in the same room. Greek key? parsons? garden stool? gallery wall? etc etc. All there. None of which are bad in themselves, just all together seems a little too anal, too decorated, not organic at all.

Me too, and I used those words verbatim when I briefed a designer the other week who is working on a new brand identity for my company.
Though there is a feminine and romantic (read bohemian arty) side to me, I too feel a lot more comfortable with a more sober base. So much more timeless and soothing than a 'frou frou' room.

Hope you had a magic mother's day!
