That first photo takes my breath away.

Frank Lloyd Wright's 'Millard House'  originally built in 1923 for Alice Millard, a book dealer, is now for sale. The Pasadena, California home has four bedrooms and four baths and is listed for $4,495,000.

Information from their site:

"Recognized by Wright as the earliest 'Usonian' house, La Miniatura is also the first residence to utilize Wright's highly inventive textile block building system. The Millard House is internationally recognized as one of the world's most important works of architecture. Now, following a multi-year restoration, the complex offers one of the most romantic, and creative living spaces anywhere. Sited on nearly an acre of gardens within the Prospect Historic District of Pasadena, the residence and studio include: 4 bedrooms, and 4 baths, 2 kitchens, living room, formal dining room, and semi-attached garages. The Millard House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places."

I can't even imagine. If the photos are that fabulous just think what it might be like to be surrounded by the entire space. It's brilliant.

I know intellectually that I should like it, and want to live in it, but it quite honestly gives me the creeps. Too museum-like, way to historic, and not enough "warmth" for me. It would always belong to Alice (and her ghost??).

Hi there!

I grew up in Pasaden; not far away from this magnificent house!

I knew the "girl" who inherited the house from her parents!

She (quite brilliantly) hired "Annie Kelly" (whose husband it the stellar photographer; brilliant beyond) Tim Street-Porter!)

The information I have received; for 50 years; is that it "leaks"!!

Lots!

It is gorgeous! However.......it doesn't rain often in Pasadena.....but it does rain!
Just something I heard! (often)!!!!

Gorgeous house! And built on top of a creek! (the creek is still there!) only creek still extant!
