Hi Donna, I love picking up the small worn rugs where the colors have softened. I have two in my kitchen, one under the dogs bowls and one in front of the kitchen sink where I stand most often. They add a beautiful warm touch to a room with lots of cold surfaces.

hi Donna! I couldn't agree more! I put my first worn rug in my kitchen 21 years ago and they've been in my kitchens ever since. Hope you are having a great summer!

I love, love, love the look of it but what the hell do you do when you drop an egg on it?

I kind of think it's only done for staging and/or placed in kitchens where no cooking is done.

The rugs in the photos have a nice oriental look about them. They definitely enhance the decor and feel of the rooms. Beautiful! :D

Love this. You know we have some of these rolled up in our attic from my husband's parents. They loved all over the world and collected all sorts of Turkish, Persian and Egyptian rugs. We have them all through our house but there are some smaller ones in the attic that might look good in our kitchen. You've inspired me to take a look.

As a side not, you have been in my thoughts and prayers. I hope all went well last week. I am sure it was bittersweet. Big hugs!!!

Love this look, considered it many times, then took a good look at how much abuse my kitchen floor actually takes.... so its a no-go for now... but it is beautiful and a great look... how do real people really manage this look?

Funny story...after reading this post, I told my husband we ought to put one of the old oriental rugs we have stored in the attic or closet down in the kitchen. I had been meaning to for a long time now but knew he would not approve. He fussed and said, they'd get worn too much and too dirty. And I replied. SO, it is better to keep them rolled up unused in the attic and closet? So, he agreed to go see what we have and what might work. We open the storage closet under the staircase and there were little moth cocoons all over the closet ceiling and our closet was invaded by moths. They totally destroyed one of the rugs (luckily it was our least favorite and likely the least valuable too). So, anyway, you saved us a huge disaster because we caught it before all those cocoons hatched and destroyed more. I had gorgeous silk draperies stored in there too and they were fine. In the long run, I think I convinced my hubby we should use them even if they get worn in the kitchen!!!
