textures...

The mixing and layering of textures.
Course. smooth. metal. fur. wood. paper.
It looks so easy.
But I know it's not...

Wouldn't you agree that the best design is the design that looks the easiest? Effortless...

I just stumbled across your blog for the first time and thought I would say hello! I looked through a few of your posts and love your style.

I'm a blogger as well, about the world of art, but my history is in interior design and fashion. I love to hear what people are saying! Hope we get to see more of each other in the future.

A great observation. Texture makes a room work. Good luck on your project..I'm sure it will all come together beautifully.

Gorgeous. It does look easy but no, it isn't. Nothing that looks effortless is ever effortless (unless you are young and svelte maybe).

Thanks for your nice comment on my blog. I do think your renovation will be a success if you follow your heart. I get easily confused but when something is just right I know it. If I don't have the I KNOW IT'S RIGHT feeling, I keep looking until I get it. Sometimes it tricks me and I settle for a VERY GOOD feeling and then sure enough, perfection comes along. But perfection is rare, so it can be quite a game of self-doubt. I try to ask myself "do i love this, does it make me feel warm and happy inside? do i smile when i see this?

Sometimes asking specific questions will answer a dilemma. Most things I am about to choose don't answer YES to all those and I realize I was tricked again by my eye that likes shiny new things...!

So many lovely things crammed into that one picture. And yes it is all about the different, earthy textures.

Happy weekend to you dear friend.

Wonderful mirrors... They remember me a painting "I coniugi Arnolfini" of Van Eyck.
