I have a big thing for old, monogrammed silver. The older and more tarnished it is, the better I like it. Whether it's my husband's great grandmothers piece, or a coin silver spoon from the thrift shop, silver with an initial on it is almost impossible for me to resist...

I suffer from the same affliction. I have domes with other initials on them and love it....my French boyfriend is quite confused by it all. Lovely photos.
I think it's a southern thang! That piece is timeworn and so lovely!!!
It's the mystery that guests try to figure out…who's initials are these anyway?
Love it!

I've never even thought about it, but wow is this piece gorgeous. And your collection sounds even more amazing.
The piece in the photo is gorgeous! I too love anything monogrammed whether it is my initials or not. There is something special about a piece with initials and I can hardly resist either!
This is gorgeous, is it yours?! Janell
We agree...can't quite figure out why we love it so much, but nothing quite like the character and patina of time worn silver. Our imaginations run wild when it has initials on it...thinking of the story the piece has to tell.
I agree! I love the worn patina of your piece :)
What is it about vintage monogrammed pieces that are so enchanting? Each one has their own mystery. Hope your weekend was a lovely one Donna?

Gorgeous piece
I love round vintage silver butter dishes (with feet even better), small enough to display on a side table (instead of the dinning table).
I love silver too and how refreshing that you leave it to tarnish. Heavy polishing would also, eventually, rub off all those beautiful monograms.

I couldn't agree more! The monograms are works of art by themselves and I love the character of the piece you chose. Plus they just don't make things like they used to!

The piece is gorgeous and I also love monogrammed things. Thanks.
I have my husband's grandfather's cycling trophy, a vast, footed silver tray engraved with his triumph, perfect for the drinks setup I am unlikely ever to have!
Me too. What a fabulous piece and would love to see more of your collection. XO
love initials too- especially on antique adopted linen napkins!!
happy week!

Me too! What a beautiful piece, perfectly tarnished.
I love antique & vintage silver and have collected it for years. Great post!
Donna, like everyone above, I, too, love anything monogrammed. Whenver anyone asks about all the different initials, I just smile and say, "I come from a very large family!"

I agree with you...I love old silver...your images are beautiful. A lovely blog...I'm a new follower!

Donna,
I love it!! And I just bought a very old, silver monogrammed child's cuff that I stretched out and have now been wearing for a week.
I couldn't agree more! Aged, elegant, rustic, refined....Silver says it all.
Beautiful piece!
Such a beautiful piece...and image!

I am with you 100% on this love affair. I have piles of monogrammed silver in various stages of degradation and that coupled with my french linen with monograms that all whisper the secrets of strangers long gone... well, my table must look like I have an identity crisis. :) But it sure is lovely.

Me too. There is something about old silver.. The weight, the way it feels cold to the touch and of course the scratches and patina that comes with it. Add an alluring monogram and I go weak at the knees.. :)
Wasn't Monika's home feature amazing. I am so proud of our girl!

I am with you on this one. I am attracted to these pieces as well. I think I like the idea of a history with the object, bringing the beauty back out to the table.

Oh I love the really worn pieces as well...especially paired with something modern.

Oh yes! I love it all too! A big monogram is just a bonus! X
Love it! You should check out Silvermagpies.com
She does a monogram challenge every Monday. It's a lot of fun!
Oh I am with you on this. I think it is the wonderful old scrolling lettering they used, it is a work of art no matter what initials are on the piece!! Kathysue
This piece is a beauty. Like your followers, I, too, am partial to old silver, crystal, pearls and white roses
Thanks for your beautiful blog.

I have more than my share of similar pieces--I can't stop collecting!
I love to use my silver, it makes the simplest meals more special!
