light gray kitchen cabinets

via pinterest

I waffle between sophisticated and casual for a kitchen. The plain door fronts and mixed hardware on these light gray cabinets really feel cozy.  Toss in the art and the marble, and, well, I'm done.

Don't know what this particular cabinet color is, but it's similar to BM Gray Owl (OC-52), which I have kinda picked as the cabinet color for my eventual kitchen over haul.

My thanks to Binnie Klein of WPKN FM Radio, Bridgeport CT, for featuring me on Thursday's edition of "Home Work." Binnie is a fellow gray lover and her segment "Gray Matters"  was so much fun. Binnie, good luck finding your "perfect gray" cabinet color!

truthfully, i float between industrial and casual for a kitchen. in fact, if there was going to be any gray, i was actually thinking of gray concrete for the countertops - but now you've got me thinking about gray cabinets! my parents' kitchen is stark white, so i hadn't even thought of gray (a skip away from white). interesting!

A radio feature? How cool is that! And these cabinets are perfect...although is making me second guess a color I picked for our hutch in the kitchen....off to check out this owl!

donna i really love the simplicity of these cabinets. i so wish i had gone with a simple flat front such as these. i on the other hand went with cabinets with lots of "character" which means cleaning the tight little moldings with a toothbrush to get them clean. what on earth was i thinking?

I love this so much! I have a little suburb rancher and my kitchen is pretty small so I think I'm going to go with the cozy look for our eventual reno. Have you seen the martha stewart cabinet line at HD? It's really nice and she has some gray cabinets I love but damn they pricey! I'm thinking of buying unfinished cabinets and painting them a color from her line to cheat!

Hi~~ I just found your blog..Love it and I love gray too. In fact, my daughter (9) is redoing her room and we are painting it a shade of light gray with a tint of purple. Have any thoughts?? We have the idea, but not the actual color yet.
Have a great day and I look forward to following your blog.

beautiful... I am moving toward more casual in my own house. I want each room to feel truly lived in and I want us to really "LIVE" there rather than it just look pretty. SOme of my rooms look too formal. I love his look. Pinning it right now:)

We remodeled our kitchen last summer. The cabinets are gray (BM's Revere Pewter) and the walls are BM's China white. The hardware is a pewtery finish from Rocky Mt. Hardware. The coutnertops are a natural stone called mother of pearl quartzite. (Google it to see photos of this beautiful stone). I choose this stone because it looks like marble, but has the qualities of granite. We love our new kitchen!

On the radio!? Wihoo, Donna! I went to the archive but the link is broken. I would love to listen to this segment and YOU!

A very pretty gray.

We are recovering from a nasty winter storm. Ugly, ugly and the power went out. The kids loved snoozing in sleeping bags next to the fireplace! The power is back today but driving is still something to avoid.

Happy weekend my friend.

Just beautiful. Interesting use of countertop transition from wood to marble. Or at least it looks like wood and marble. And the mix of cabinet hardware. Very inspiring.

There is so much to love about this kitchen; hanging art, mixing the cabinet knobs, using baseboard moulding around the breakfront cabinet, large windows, the subtle color. Oh wait a minute, these are all ideas I am including in the kitchen reno I am in the process of doing even as we speak. Having seen this one, I am sure I am going to love the finished product.
Have a great weekend, Donna.
Best...Victoria

Your opening sentence describes how I feel about my kitchen too. I find at night I crave a dark, sophisticated space while during the day I want bright and casual. As I write this I realize I should probably pay attention to the lighting - right now it's all overhead lights.

Congrats on your radio appearance. Love the name of the show!

Found your blog this am and happy I did because I really have trouble with grays. I am in the process of redoing my kitchen and cannot get the grey right. I painted it horizon from BM but there is too much blue in it. I am looking forward to sitting down and exploring your blog in search of some much need help ;)

Have a good sunday

So fun that you were on the radio! Are you in Bridgeport? We should meet for lunch in Greenwich?! How far is that for you? I love a working kitchen that looks clean, functional and appealing to the eye. I tend to gravitate towards a "sterile" look in kitchens. I want it all to look clean. Love gray, anywhere. I have Bunny Gray in my kitchen...we have six skylights and three sets of windows so I went a tad darker, but with natural light and openness it looks very pale. Great post!

Love this kitchen and love your blog. I just moved to a rental house and the kitchen is in desperate need of a face lift. Painting the cabinets gray and the walls white will be the perfect solution... Fay
