my master bath sconces...?

in my master bathroom

I waited patiently...well, maybe not-so-patiently...for over a year to find just the right sconces for my new master bath cabinetry. New ones just wouldn't do.

Nope. Not for me.

I was very limited because the size had to be just so for the right fit and look. So trust me, it was tough going.

Well, yesterday, while on the way to the grocery store, I made a little side trip and found this pair of  antique bronze sconces in a consignment shop practically in my own back yard. And I had already made TWO trips to Atlanta looking for sconces!

"hold it up there just a little longer, honey...
while I try to decide."

I'm trying one out for size right now but I think these are IT.

What do you think?

They are perfect! Great patina and size.

Hmm, beautiful but those would not be legal lighting for a UK bathroom. Perhaps ask your electrician if you can have that kind so close to water over there? Perhaps it's not so strict in America?

I do love those scones but any sconce, classic or modern style, would look sharp with that lovely vanity and those great sinks. Their size fills the space nicely. The faux dripping wax candle sleeves look at bit heavy and "haunted mansion" to me but that's an easy change out if you don't like them.

I think they are perfect and gorgeous! And, good for you for waiting for the perfect pair. I also think you have a very sweet husband;) Dan does this too with "up,down, back up, down, right, left, counter clock, clock, up again.....!!" Don't forget the company (and coupon code on the blog) that sells the real wax sleeve covers- you'll love them.

I like them, they have just the right amount of character. I agree with Robin - maybe faux finishing the candle sleeves to bring them down a bit - make that part softer.

I agree with everyone above! They are GORGEOUS as is your bath. To die. However, I also concur that I am not sure about the sleeves. What would you change them to if you did? Would you do something more funky, like order a clear set or paint this set of sleeves a metallic bronze/gold or something? The patina on the metal is gorgeous, I adore the leaf motif and the scale is perfect.

Don't publish this!
Apparently you're on a lower voltage over there. I see you also have sockets and light switches in your sink zone. We cannot have either in our bathrooms! All lights must be on a light pull and no sockets at all are allowed in the room. And our lights must be fully covered to prevent water getting inside. Your way is much more fun!
They really are lovely!

Stunning. As is your bathroom. More pics of your home please?
I too have learned not to buy anything that is a "space filler". I'm okay with doing without most things until I find the right thing. The way I look at it, I want to have great stuff to pass on to my children and not tat. Worth waiting and often paying for.

I love them - they look perfect, Donna! And your headless husband holding the fixture is priceless! We can all relate to that. :)

Donna,
I think lighting is the most difficult thing....in fact I am still trying to find the right chandelier for over my dining table which will come to an end when I am not looking for it. You really could go so many ways....something clean and modern or something old world and grand, as you procured.
You have such style, trust your instinct.

Even though I love the one's you found as they work so nicely with the hardware...Take a look at these....just another choice to look at - maybe too polished but I do love them...
