silverware collection

Arcobaleno Antiques

When I posted this image last week, my friend Charlotta from Space for Inspiration commented that this arrangement of framed silverware is similar to my collection, which I  posted when I first began blogging.

I have a collection of coin silver pieces that I have either bought or have been given as gifts. I had always wanted to display them somehow and when I got these antique frames from my husband's grandmother, I covered sturdy cardboard with low loft batting and topped it with neutral cotton canvas. I took a heavy needle and secured the pieces with clear fishing line, piercing all the layers and knotting it in the back.

My collection in my kitchen.

I love to see old silverware displayed in any way. Charlotta, thanks for the reminder...

i just love this! i used to have silverware framed in my breakfast room. spoons in one, forks in one and knives in another. it made me feel, for some reason, that i was dining in a restraunt. i was always surprised by the number of people that asked "why do you have silverware framed?". it's art!

Very cool. Great idea, and sentimental to boot.

I love this idea!!! I'm always picking up pieces of silverware (not part of a set) and they just go into the silverware box. I am definitely going to try this. Thanks for the inspiration!!

I remember seeing this project of yours before and I was so inspired and went and found some beautiful old frames to do a similar project. I'm sorry to say the frames are still in the trunk of my car, but when the mood strikes, I have a plan!

The coin silver looks amazing framed! I use my serving spoon, given as a wedding gift, but it is very soft so we use it only for easy-to-spoon items. This gives me a new idea, so thank you. Now...what paint colour did you use in your kitchen, as it is FABULOUS

Your collections looks great in those beautiful antique frames! lovely!

Funny story... years ago I decided to change out my everyday flatware with coin silver, only to discover that you can only find coin silver "spoons"! Had to settle for a vintage sterling set- would have missed the forks and knives too much!:)

Those are so beautifully done, nice job!

You asked me where I got my wire dress form. I used to retail that wire line. Sorry for my late reply. That was many moons ago and I can't find the reps name or the line name. If I come across another I'll let you know;0)

Love your blog,
Lynea

Do you ever polish them?

just goes to show that anything can look fabulous framed!

One of my clients framed the keys to their first home. The key isn't even fancy, but it was still so cute.

Are any of your spoons silver or silverplated? If so did they tarnish? I want to do this but my pieces are silverplated. Thanks.
