first look: my master bath vanity

I caught the sun making some nice shadows on my "new" master bath vanity yesterday, so I snapped a few quick shots. I found an old, gray-painted french piece at Scott's Antique Market in Atlanta last fall and had it converted to hold two sinks.  (My plumbing contractor may never speak to me again.) I knew I wanted to have something old as an anchor in the new bathroom, and this piece really suits our 1940's home. We added a calcutta gold marble top and I was super happy that we could place the slab so that a large gray vein ran right between the sinks.

It's been a long haul but we are finally finished. I need to do a few more things, then I'll post more photos.

Until then, you'll find me here. In my new bathroom. I may never come back out.

That is really pretty. Did your stone fabricator use the top of the chest as a template for the marble counter? Or did you design your own top?

I literally took a breath in and gasped when I saw your marble...it's gorgeous! The placement of that beautiful vein is brilliant! We have such similar marble in our kitchen and spent quite a bit of time finding the best way for 'our veins' to shine...you did such a wonderful job with yours, it's just stunning!
The vanity is just so pretty as well...it's all coming together beautifully Donna, or should I say...perfectly!
So happy for you...

That grey vein between the sinks is stunning - like a beauty spot. Makes it just so much more 'alive' and personal.

Well done darling. This teaser has me on the tip of my chair and I can't wait to see more!!

Big hugs

What a stunning job. Plumber not talking to you...I am surprised that your stone fabricator is still talking to you with all the detailed curves in the marble. Truly magnificent.

If your bathroom is anywhere as beautiful as your photograph -- and I am sure that it is -- it is stunning. I love your calcutta gold slab. It is what I am using in my kitchen and I love the drama of the wide gray veining. I also love the dresser you are using for your sinks.

As for never leaving the room, it reminds me of a question Joan at For the Love of a House posed the other day, "Can you love a bathroom?" The answer, most definitely, is yes. I am anxious to see the rest of the room.
Best...Victoria

So lovely! I stopped short when I saw the handles and fluted wood details. It resembles a tall French Provincial dresser my sister and I had growing up; 'antiqued' white with subtle gold gilt on the details... Of all the furniture my mother 'recycled', I hope that little dresser is in storage in the basement; you have inspired me! Thanks for the post!
